To get us started - how would you describe yourself in 6 words or less? Patient-centric and customer-focused.

Describe your business and what prompted you to start it? Spiorad Medical Ltd was born out of a deep-seated need within the medical industry. With a background as a Vascular physiologist with the Health Service Executive (HSE), I witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by medical professionals in ensuring optimal patient care. After pursuing further studies in IP Law and business, I transitioned into the commercial sector, working as a clinical support and sales manager with leading multinationals. It was during this time that I identified a glaring gap in the market – the need for a reliable closure device in medical procedures. Motivated by the desire to address this unmet need and improve patient outcomes, I embarked on the journey of founding Spiorad Medical Ltd.

Tell us a little bit more about you? My journey in the medical field began as a Vascular physiologist with the HSE, where I gained invaluable experience in patient care and medical procedures. However, my passion for innovation and entrepreneurship led me to pursue further studies in IP Law and business, expanding my skill set and opening doors to new opportunities in the commercial sector. As a clinical support and sales manager with leading multinationals, I honed my business acumen and identified opportunities for improvement within the medical industry. My transition into entrepreneurship with the founding of Spiorad Medical Ltd reflects my commitment to driving positive change and innovation in healthcare.

Fill us in on your female founder journey. As a female founder in the traditionally male-dominated field of healthcare, my journey has been both challenging and rewarding. While I have encountered moments of self-doubt and faced obstacles such as securing funding, the journey has also been filled with triumphs and milestones. Filing patents for our innovative medical devices has been a particularly gratifying experience, as it represents the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Being a female founder means navigating unique challenges and barriers, but it also means breaking down barriers and paving the way for future generations of women in entrepreneurship.

What are your top three tips for other women founders?

  1. Manage Time Wisely: Learn to say no to tasks and commitments that don't align with your priorities, and delegate whenever possible to free up time for strategic decision-making and self-care.

  2. Embrace Resilience: Entrepreneurship is inherently challenging, but it's important to embrace setbacks as learning opportunities and remain resilient in the face of adversity.

  3. Prioritize Self-Care: Take care of your physical and mental well-being, as it's essential for sustained success as a founder. Make time for activities that recharge you, whether it's exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones.

To finish up with what are six words to live by? "It always seems impossible until it's done." and "Forgiveness is easier to get than permission."
