#FollowJennifer : Award winning designs grounded in wearable Irish art.

AwakenHub is a community of and for women founders, entrepreneurs and start-ups across the island of Ireland. Each week we feature a new #Follow on our social media channels to encourage others to follow and support eachother. 

This week its #FollowJRothwelldesign founder of Jennifer Rothwell the only designer that both digitally prints and manufactures in Ireland. Jennifer is an award-winning designer and specialises in the stories of Ireland depicting nature, history and culture and reinterprets them in vibrant and beautiful silk prints.            

Q1: How would you describe yourself in 6 words or less?   

Jennifer: Creative, passionate, hard working and determined 

 Q2: What prompted you to start your business?

Jennifer: Since art college I always wanted to start my own fashion label. I believe in life that we only regret the things we don't do and I didnt want to be in my 80's looking back at my life regretting not giving it a try! 

 Q3: How has being part of the AwakenHub community helped your business?

Jennifer: The Awakenhub community members in particular Sinead Crowley, Mary Ann Pierce and Mary McKenna have been a great support to me and my business through networking and in the promotion of my designs via events and on social media. Which in turn resulted in increased brand awareness and sales growth! I am extremely grateful to them all and to the wider Awakenhub community for their continued support and look forward to the events and opportunities to meet with other women founders across Ireland.

Every woman founder has a story as does every piece in Jennifer’s collection . The Snow Queen, inspired by Harry Clarke,  tells the story of good triumphing over evil. The collection is inspired by illustrations in the National Gallery of Ireland’s collection produced by the Dublin-born stained glass artist and book illustrator Harry Clarke for Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales.
