To get us started - how would you describe yourself in 6 words or less?

Road Haulage specialist & advisor, passionate about compliance and helping companies stay compliant.

What prompted you to start your business?

My goal is to provide customers with a complete service that allows them to grow as a company while achieving transport compliance, ensuring their company is legally compliant at all times. This enables companies to concentrate on what's important to them while maintaining the security of their operator licence. There are many companies out there needing this assistance.

Tell us a little bit more about you?

Having been born and raised in the Transport industry, our family name is well known throughout the industry. I always joke, "I didn't choose the transport life; it chose me." I started as a Transport Manager at 18 years old and have worked in many reputable companies, earning qualifications along the way. After starting in a Transport Management role, I became a qualified teacher, auditor, and instructor. I further progressed my career by working in the legal and compliance aspects of Road haulage operations and workplace training. It has been a natural progression for me to become the sole owner and founder of Transport Compliance NI.

Fill us in on your female founder journey.

Having worked in a male-dominated industry all my life, I am accustomed to working hard and becoming a specialist in my field. Being a female founder is not an easy task, but since becoming a business owner, I have never been busier. Balancing

work hours, business growth, development, and personal life has been my biggest challenge. I love what I do; it's a challenging yet enjoyable career where no two days are the same. I help so many people that it's hard to simply close the door at 5 pm when there is still so much to be done. I am proud to represent female founders and have already connected with other great female founders, whom I hope to maintain long-term relationships with.

How did you hear about AwakenHub, and what prompted you to apply for SheGenerate?

I saw an advertisement on social media about SheGenerate applications. I thought, "What's there to lose?" so I filled out the application and hoped to at least make it to the interview stage to discuss my business goals. The more I learned about the founders of AwakenHub, the more I saw how I would fit in. These women are amazing and absolute powerhouses of information. I was thrilled to be accepted. I have already told the other SheGenerate group that applying for SheGenerate was the best decision I've made. I am looking forward to what lies ahead.

What have you gained from the SheGenerate process?

I have gained a wealth of information and connected with amazing female entrepreneurs who not only participate for their own gain but also support and assist each other. I love the open Slack board, where I can comfortably share any queries, knowing someone will provide advice or point me in the right direction. I also enjoy connecting with other female founders who are in a similar position as me. It's inspiring to witness everyone's achievements and accomplishments as the weeks progress.

What does success look like to you in 12 months and in 5 years?

Success for me means settling into a new, larger premises, hiring staff, and building the business to assist and help as many customers as possible. I want to feel accomplished and see my current goals come to fruition.

SheGenerate is just a small part of AwakenHub. Now that you have the community's attention, what can we do for you?

I would love to connect, share stories, and exchange knowledge whenever possible.

As a founder, what are your non-negotiables? What words/phrases do you live by, and who inspires you?

I decided some time ago not to deal with difficult people. There are too many individuals out there willing to mistreat, not pay, or cancel bookings. I have a zero-tolerance approach. I give my all to my clients, and if they don't appreciate that, my time is better spent elsewhere. Invest your time wisely, do your research, find your tribe, and surround yourself with good people who help you grow and support you through both good times and difficult moments. Trust your gut.

And finally, share six words to live by.

I have lived by the quote, "Leap and the net will appear" by John Burroughs for several years, and it has never let me down.
